disco naïveté presents: The Sound of 2012
If the music industry was a horse race, I’d put my money on these horses. You’ll be familiar with some, others may be new to you. They’re all worth your time though, as I think these are the bands and artists you’ll hear a lot more from in 2012. I present you: The Sound of 2012.

disco naïveté presents: songs of 2011
These are, in my humble opinion, some of the best songs released in 2011, in no specific order. I could make a very long list of songs, but I figured I’d keep it short with just the bare essential jams of 2011. All of these songs gave me goosebumps the first time I heard them and most of them still have that effect on me today. If you wish to hear more amazing tracks, be sure to check out...

Cocknbullkid - Adolescence
Cocknbullkid was going to release her early demos/songs as a package titled Adolescence next year but due to a leak and the festivities of Christmas and New Year, she decided to give it all away for free. If you’re as big as a fan of Anita Blay’s take on pop as I am you’ve probably heard most of these tracks already, but there are some previously unheard tracks to be found in...

disco naïveté presents: albums of 2011
These are, in my humble opinion, the best albums released in 2011 - or at least the ones I enjoyed most. This is today’s version - if I take another look at this list in 3 months or so I’ll definitely want to move up/bump down some albums.
Please note that jj’s KILLS was (indeed) released in December 2010, but it’s one of the albums I’ve had on repeat all...

mp3: Wintercoats - Forest of Lovers (Southern...
A little treat from Cascine, which combines two of my favorite Cascine-acts: Wintercoats and Southern Shores. The latter have remixed the former’s Forest of Lovers, which may at first sound a bit odd in your head (lo-fi violin pop meets balearic sample tropical pop) but it turns out that match is actually pretty great.

disco naïveté presents: EP's of 2011
These are, in my humble opinion, the best EP’s released in 2011 - or at least the ones I enjoyed most. Please note that 2-track EP’s (Lana Del Rey, Purity Ring, Nicolas Jaar, Alex Winston, etc) are nowhere to be found in this list because one of the criteria for my personal list of EP’s is having at least 3 tracks. You can stream the top 5 in its entirity if you click on the...
disco naïveté Readers' Poll 2011: The Results
You’ve voted in our Readers’ Poll - bet you want to know the results. Once again, the readers of disco naïveté prove to have an excellent taste in music! Please note all votes (exactly 333!) were counted using the one and only Eurovision voting system - but the songs were obviously a lot better.
A lot of people have asked why there isn’t a favorite songs and/or videos option....

Cat Power is recording a new album, but she also wants to do some charity. Show your good heart and do it, you’re doing good and you get this great song in return....

Planningtorock messes around - far from as bad as it probably sounds, it contains some serious video-editing skills - with her video for Living It Out to accompany that mind-blowing remix Billy Lock (Felix Martin from Hot Chip) did of the song.
