“Someone once asked me why I make music. All I can say was “I make music for music” - I love it so much that I wanna be able to create it. I wanna be heard and have something I can put my story into. I don’t do this for the money (I don’t even get paid), I just do it cause I love and cause I can’t live without.”
That’s how 19-year-old Lorine Chia starts off her debut mixtape Lorine - this Cameroon-born R&B singer just wants to make music and share it with the rest of the world. Lorine showcases her love for classic R&B with a love for the past instead of trying to sound like the future - she is a future star though. You can feel she truly puts her soul in her music and is everything but a industry-created singer. There’s a bit of an Amy Winehouse-hint (miss you Amy) in her grainy voice, but then again there’s not.
Stream Lorine below and grab a free download of the mixtape over at her website. Expect this to be on the rest of the internet within a week - yes, it’s that good.
