Halona King somehow slipped through our radar earlier this year; weird, since some of our favorite people on the internet wrote about it. She has all the ingredients to make us fall in love with her though: beautifully, heavy piano-pop songs, heartbreaking lyrics (“I came back for you to go / cause it would have been a long long road alone”) and production by Max Hershenow from MS MR. A bit of a less polished Fiona Apple or a more agressive Eddi Front, Halona King is set to make a name for herself and her striking 4-track debut EP is a great start.
