Shot in 8mm and dressed in Ann Demeulemeester, Trixie Whitley sings the breathe out of her lungs in the video for Never Enough, the third single to be taken from her glorious LP Fourth Corner. The strength glows from her eyes when she gazes straight into the camera, whilst the lyrics and guitar hit you straight in your heart.
Trixie Whitley and Matthu Placek unite again for the video for the former’s Breathe You In My Dreams, the next single taken of Trixie’s stunning debut album Fourth Corner (one of our favorites of the year). Just like the clip for A Thousand Thieves a few years back, “less is more” is the standard here, with an up-front black & white clip featuring Trixie staring right into your soul.
People often ask us to recommend us quality acts from Belgium - whenever we’re being asked that, we drop Trixie Whitley's name first (and blogged some of her stuff already). This 20-something talented blonde travels in between the States and Belgium and fronted Black Dub (Daniel Lanois) but it took a few years for that proper debut full-length to drop. Well, that day is finally here, and it was definitely worth the wait.
Fourth Corner is a fierce but honest and straight-forward record - co-produced by Thomas Bartlett (The National, Antony, My Brightest Diamond), Fourth Corner takes you on an exciting trip that fans of solid indie rock sound will definitely approve of. Trixie keeps you on the edge of your seat with her firm, soulful voice and a balanced affair between guitar, drums and piano.
If there’s anyone that’s going to put Belgium on the musical map, it’s Trixie Whitley. Fourth Corner is streaming below and out now, we strongly suggest you give this one a go - believe us, it’s more than worth your time.
Trixie Whitley has never sounded this full of rhythm - we could almost call her “a pop singer.” New track Need Your Love is full of indie soul, with Trixie’s grand and powerful voice backed by a Thomas Bartlett (Antony and the Johnsons, The National, etc) production. Find it below, as well as a truly stunning live version of Breathe You In My Dreams - both tracks are taken from the Belgian-born singer’s long-awaited debut album Fourth Corner. Find it so hard to believe that voice is coming from a girl this young - blown away.
Breathe You In My Dreams is the first teaser off the Belgian-born Brooklyn-resident Trixie Whitley's debut album Fourth Corner, who we featured here on DN before with Matthu Placek’s video for A Thousand Thieves. Breathe You In My Dreams starts of quite romantic with some beautiful piano chords and Trixie’s deep, soulful voice - up until it gets a lot more rich, direct and powerful. She’s got quite the amount of fans in Belgium (just look at this), eager to see where this girl goes in the rest of the world. Fourth Corner is out on January 29 in the US and set for a February 11 release in Europe via Unday.
A Thousand Thieves is the new single by the Belgian-born, Brooklyn-based Trixie Whitley. Saw her perform this on a Belgian talkshow De Laatste Show a couple of days ago; the Matthu Placek-directed video definitely does the song justice.
